Creating Order from Chaos: Vetting Technology Solutions to Address Your Property Management Pain Points
With over 3,000 companies in the proptech space, where does a property management company start in deciding what technologies it needs to address the business challenges it is facing and what companies have the answers. This panel will share insights on how can you bring order to this chaos and put in place a process for identifying and adopting innovative technologies that will solve real problems.

Moderator: John Salustri, Salustri Content Solutions
Panelists:
James Scott, IREM’s Technology Innovator-in-Residence and Lead Researcher for the MIT Real Estate Innovation Lab (REIL)

Michael Remorenko, Director of Sales, Yardi

Coming Soon to Your Property: Augmented Realty
Augmented Reality (AR) someday will be used in virtually all aspects of society, including real estate. The industry will be transformed when AR allows for a property to be digitally wrapped with content, generating additional revenue by selling virtual advertising. This will require zero capital expenditures. However, if landlords aren't careful they could find themselves in legal jeopardy. In 2016 the mobile AR game Pokemon Go became the top app the day it was released and encouraged players to trespass on private property in an effort to catch a Pikachu. This resulted in damages and deaths, while the unassuming land owners were on the hook for the liabilities. The session will explore how to generate revenue for a property owner by facilitating a connection between the landlord and advertisers who want to obtain a legal license to use the real estate asset for augmented reality engagements.
